EBISU　CONPLEX 2009

Complex　 of houses , offices , and shop . Shop space to let on the ground , offices to let on the first and second , and client’s residence on top two floors . External walls are exposed fair-faced concrete and glazed screen . External staircases also have glazed balustrades . ARCTURUS beauty-treatment clinic　2007

Beauty-treatment clinic in Ginza at the center of Tokyo . The partitions are made of curtain-like material called Garbo fringe . In the ceiling of the base of the fringe , indirect linear lightings are set . It looks like the shower of gold rain .

LINDT　GINZA 2007

Flagship shop of the chocolate maker LINDT in Switzerland . The minimum space contains the images of flash light and pieces of chocolates .

SPA AT THE FORMER CASTLE 2006

Conversion of the shower house of the pool in the garden of the hotel in Iwate prefecture into the spa 　resort that includes spa , a lounge , rock- bed spa , a restaurant. The flowing pool itself and its surrounding is also converted into landscaped garden.

KOIZUMI LAUNDRY 2006

The complex of a laundry , dry-cleaning shop and 3 family houses in the densely built-up area. Shop and owner’s and their mother’s houses on the ground floor , owner’s son’s family is living on the first floor. The layout plan is determined by the irregular shape of the land . For the next door on the south is three storied house , Windows are widely set and the sunlight from the first floor windows comes down to the living on the ground floor through the void.

I-BRIGHT 2005

KANNA1 MOVIE GALLERY ACADEMY 2003　

“Kan‘nai Academy” which has been very popular movie theater in Yokohama for showing good films. Renewal of “Kan’nai Academy” to a mini cinema complex of 3 screens and gallery which exhibits things related to movies.

The complex consists of offices to let , flats and owners house on the top.

VOCATINAL AID CENTER FOR THE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED 2000

The facility where mentally handicapped persons are trained to work to facilitate reentry into society . The bakery and cafe on the ground floor , The workshop where they make cookies , wrap them and so on , on the first floor . On the terrace and roof terrace they learn gardening . The meeting- rooms on the second . On this land there used to be psychiatrist’s clinic and his house surrounded by lots of trees . Trees are reserved as many as possible . A big zelkova tree is reserved to make a symbol of a entrance court , and a big cherry tree is for courtyard . Cafe offers a nice comfortable space for neighbors .

M1 BUILDING 1998

The complex building for Shigeki Maruyama , the professional golfer. It consists of Italian restaurant on the ground to second floor, his office on the third and fourth , and his parent house on the fifth. The head office and technical center for the company dealing with medical instruments . Storage and maintenance space on the ground floor , Main entrance is on the first floor . Cylindrical elevator shaft connects every floors . The tall hollow on the facade contains a tree expected to grow tall . Y BANK MAIN OFFICE 1994

Renovation of the old bank head office in Yokohama . The site is close to the sea , so the banking hall is designed according to the image of the sea . The stone surface floor is arranged like a ripple , and the signature desks with glass screens are the wave- shaped in plan . In the center of the hall there is a cylindrical glass tank with tropical fishes .

MAS MULTI-MEDIA CENTER 1993

The advertising agency building on the hill surrounded by the thick trees in the suburbs of Hamamatsu city . Staffs are on the desk watching monitor of PC all day long . Through the narrow windows that are set on the every desks, they look outside green , when stop working and take a rest . At the center of about five desks arranged at L-shaped layout there is a small table where brief meeting could be held . On the intermediate floor of the two-storied office spaces , there are drawing room , conference room and refresh area , These spaces are facing valley have beautiful view. photo:(c)H.Sakaguchi

CLOUD NINE 1989

The small cafe offering live music and owners house on the top . The client thinks that his way of life so far should be thrown away and he’d like to spend the rest of his life doing as he pleased . Steep steps for the audience seats appears on the exterior as a inclined plane under which there is a parking space . And circulation staircase is expressed outside . The name of the cafe “Cloud Nine” is from the song by George Harrison. published on The Japan Architects Oct 1989
